Detroit families looking for a school that values both creativity and academic excellence can find that balance at Arts Academy in the Woods. Students major in an art form while building strong skills in core subjects that meet Michigan standards. Daily artistic practice encourages discipline, confidence, and self-expression, while arts-integrated lessons make learning more meaningful across the curriculum. Students grow as artists, thinkers, and scholars in a setting that prepares them for life after graduation.
Enrollment is open to all Michigan students, including those who live in Detroit. Families can begin with a simple inquiry, then explore a tour or campus visit to learn more about the school community. Our team helps guide course selection, placement, and next steps so students can transition with confidence. Whether your child is just starting in the arts or already has experience in their chosen area, there is a path for them here.
Our school environment is welcoming, inclusive, and designed to help students succeed. Support includes co-teaching in core classes, accommodations when needed, and access to a resource room for additional academic help. Teachers work together to understand each student’s needs and encourage growth both in the classroom and in the arts. Families from Detroit appreciate the communication, care, and student-centered approach that helps learners feel supported every day.
